I will! The first one was AWESOME! The end was really clever! I can't wait for the 2nd one :) 5 days o.o
The trailer looks awesome, I thought the first movie wasn't a bad effort, far from perfect, however, it did deliver some genuine scares. Still trying to figure out why Ted Raimi was killed off, seeing that he never laid foot within that dreaded house, but anyway, whatever, hmm.
But yeah The Grudge 2 looks like it is gonna deliver some cold shiver chills, brrrh! ;)

I thought The Grudge was ok, thinner than tissue paper, but it had some effective jolts that atleast worked upon the first viewing.
The Grudge 2 trailer was quite good and I love Amber Tamblyn, so I'm really looking forward to seeing this on F13.

Hmm, the first movie did a good job of creeping me out, but it sorta lacked in plot and depth....
I'm not going to see the newer one, however.
The eyes in the commercials freak me out.....

I'm gonna go see it cuz I did like the first one and I'm a big SMG fan. It can't be worse than Poseidon! (worst movie of 06 and on of the top 10 worst movies I've ever seen)

I don't know why I was so surprised that they'd gone and made a sequel. Badly directed PG-13 horrors starring horrible suspense actresses can be milked just like anything else, I guess. :(

I problobly wont.
I was scared by the first one in theaters, but when it came out on DVD i didnt really scare me at all.
I didnt think any of the trailers are scary for the Grudge 2 were scary.
And recently I watched some of Ju-On and didnt think they were scary.
And to the people they dont scare, there just stupid.
But ehh, movies just dont scare me anymore.

I'll see it. Unfortunately, I think they put all of the scares in the trailer.

You know, the first one scared me a lot. And I saw it the day after it came out in theaters and the reaction from the audience was INCREDIBLE. Oh my god the audience made it 10x better. Like the screaming and there were asian kids sitting behind us going "they want the white people outta town" considering it was in japan. It was hilarious.
However, I am afraid this film will suck ass like the ring 2. But who knows, the trailer scared me. I actually wanna see TCMTB MORE than this but it sucks cause all my friends and I are 16 and of course they wanna see Grudge instead.

I have no idea why so many people are hyped up for "The Grudge 2". The first one sucked balls, and a lot of 'em. It was just another PG-13 wuss fest, but it was one of the more terrible ones, right on up there with the worst ones ever, "Boogeyman (Who?)", "They (Suck Balls)", and "Darkness Falls (On PG-13 Wuss Fests)".
(Now I'm not nagging 'ALL' PG-13 horror movies, as SOME are good, but the majority really do suck.)
I hated the first "Grudge". Not one part was scary nor creepy. I actually laughed during the whole thing because it was so bad. The flashbacks were annoying as hell and I couldn't tell what the hell was going on and when and where and why. That was the worst part of it. Even the wonderful Sarah Michelle Gellar couldn't save the movie. She knows better than to be doing movies like this...Or does she?
Anyway "The Grudge 2" looks just as bad as the first, if not worse. I hope to hell it gets creamed by another movie at the box office and "Saw III" will be the one to do such a thing! Why oh why does Hollywood have to keep making such crappy PG-13 horror films?

Well The Grudge came out before Scary Movie 4 so it could've been scary then....BUT, it wasn't.

I saw it at the midnight show and I was pleasantly surprised.
Amber is a much better lead and is much better characterized than Gellar was, Kayako is actually given depth and presence with a backstory to make her more than the generic pop up jump scare tool that she was last time, and Christopher Young's score was nerve-racking, it could make a Family Guy episode terrifying.
I was glad that Gellar had a minimal role. I was disappointed in her performance in The Grudge.
This is vastly superior to The Gruge, Ju-On: The Grudge, or Ju-On: The Curse...or all of them combined for that matter.

DON'T GO SEE THE GRUDGE 2 it's stupid dumb ALOT WORSE the the first one.
as I was watching I tried to fingure it out but just got lost.
it's just pointless killings actuallly it's not even "killings" it's disappearings so it's just pointless disappearings.
don't see it and if for some reason you do, don't try to fingure it out cause you'll just go home straching your head.
Spoliers highlight below to read:
I'm Mad, 3 count them three times at the end of the grudge 2 they could have just ended the movie in a "ok" way but no.
1. Sarah's sister could have just found the mom and she could have helped her beat the grudge.
2. Sarah brought the grudge to her mom. the grudge killed the mom then the grudge would be happy that her mother that fed her "demons" is dead and she could have stopped killing (disappering people)
3. Sarah's sister could have taken the place as the mother that got her neck broken. then since it didn't happen to her the grudge would have never been made.
but no they made the "ghost" girl in the closet in the begining look like sarah's sister ? instead of the grudge ? why ?
then when you think sarah's sister took her place and is now the grudge at the very end of the movie the orignal grudge gets the little boy ?????
I hope noone hear knows what I'm talking about and they didn't/won't go see this movie

Well you can pretty much say all the Ju-On/Grudge films are just disappearances and freaky ghost shit, none of them are exactly stellar storytelling.
They're edited like jump scare music videos.

I think the movies are at the very worst worth some effective jolts upon a single viewing, and these types of films play great with a packed audience.
Plus anything with Amber Tamblyn as the lead is worth seeing.
If the villain and the victims are characterized properly, they can actually be great films. The first film got neither right, this film was a step in the direction for both. Maybe a Grudge 3 can give me the feeling I had when I first saw The Ring in theatres.

I went to see it on Friday. It sucked ass imo. But it was funny to hear all these people in the movie theatre screaming at the top of their lungs every time one of the ghost people came on screen.
The movie was actually kind of funny. That one lady sounded more like a cow than a ghost... XD

but how can you say that ?
if you did watch this movie did you notice AT ALL that it didn't make any sense ??
it really didn't
I was confused like why did I want to see this ??
I mean when you make a movie shouldn't there be some reason why it keeps "disappearing people ?"
Damn, did that movie NOT make any sense
FirstBlood1982

People were disappearing because the house is cursed, anyone that goes into gets the curse, and the curse spreads with those people.
Like I said, I go to these movies for the jolts, not the storytelling.

I went to go see it today and it was a lot better than I thought it was gonna be. Amber Tamblyn was great, and it's always nice to see SMG, even though it was only for a short while. I thought the story was interesting, and I liked how everything came together at the end. All in all, a pretty solid movie. I give it 7/10.

Another recurring theme in this thread is that people saw the movie, EXPECTING it to suck (I guess they consider this competition to Saw or something).
FirstBlood1982
10-15-2006, 06:45 PM
This movie never even posed a mild threat to SAW.
Alot of people didn't like The Grudge so it was tapering off going into the sequel, plus it's opening weeks before SAW III.
SAW II on the other hand toppled the gross of the first showing that its popularity was building going into the next installment.

Grudge 2 made the grudge look like gold.
the 2nd one was just crazy pointless "disappearing"
I would have rather seen Saw2 in theaters again then see this movie.
I don't understand why people here say that the Grudge 2 was ok ? I mean it made no sense at all. I could understand if the story was shot and it was just pointless killings and gore but no it was pointless "disappearings" ????

IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THIS MOVIE DON'T READ MY POST!
Hey everyone...what movie were you watching or is it you just can't understand a simple story. DUH! I've read post after post and I've read them all on this thread saying I hate the Grudge 2 most long before it even came out to even give it a chance just because they didn't like the first one. I'm not saying all of you just a select 99.9% of you. I'll admit I liked The Grudge because I'm watching it and judging it on it's own...you can't compare these movies to SAW or any of that...it isn't that movie. I watched The Grudge 2 finally last night after I'd wanted to watch it for quite some time LOL! You know what I've already had to explain The first Grudge to people because for some reason they couldn't pick up on a simple storyline. Look...for Varys or anyone else who doesn't understand The Grudge 2. I hope you can understand the beginning words at the beginning of both films because that explains pretty much everything. In respect to the fact that I can see where some people aren't understanding this movie...realize I'm not attacking anyone in this review I will explain it as well as I can to you. Here you go...
The beginning...Wife kills husband right. We then see 3 high school girls go into the cursed house. They do that count to 10 thing and all the weird stuff goes down. They leave scared...because they went into the house just as for anyone in the first one...they were followed by Kayako who would of course later make them disappear..in fact I'd say she killed them they just assumed an audience would be smart enough to know that they are missing but they were killed as shown in the scene later with the girl and then the psychologist and the girls friends being ghosts! Tell me you can't say you didn't understand that. Moving on...we meet Karen's sister Aubrey who goes to Tokyo to see her sister who the doctors think are insane! Karen eventually is at hospital where she soon starts seeing Kayako again and breaks free of her bindings. She runs like mad to the roof of the hospital where at the bottom her sister Aubrey is now talking to the reporter. Soon Kayako I believe pulls Karen off the building and she goes splat on the pavement in front of her sister. Fast forward a ways into the movie and we see that slowly the girls who originally went into that house are slowly disappearing except for one. At some point they show the husband and wife all happy who we saw at the beginning of the movie where the wife killed the husband and like in the first Grudge this is pretty much a flashback. It's simply telling you what happened that lead up to that event. We meet the son and daughter and one of the daughters friends as well as some others living in the apartment. Later we meet a hooded person who is always acting weird and seems to have the spirits of two others following her. Aubrey meanwhile continues to try and figure out what killed her sister and why. She does with the help of a reporter...Kayakos spirit brings Aubrey into the cursed house...ding ding ding...she's been in the house now too. The reporter explains how he'd already been in there before. He's been seeing Kayako around since...her spirit. He is in the dark room one night processing film when Kayakos spirit comes from a picture and kills him. Aubrey wakes up to find him dead and Kayako continues to chase them...before he died though they learn of a woman who can exorcise spirits and that being the only lead Aubrey goes to the place she lives in. It turns out the woman who can do this is Kayakos mother and then we witness Kayako kill her own mother. Aubrey leaves to the house after telling her mother that hey your daughters dead. Her mother continues to hate her.
The only survivor of the three girls to go into the house at the beginning of the film is still running frantic and scared from all these things she's seeing. Elsewhere the son of the family in the apartments is seeing weird things going on but at this point we don't know why yet. He's tailed the hooded person with the spirits following them more than once and he's seen some strange stuff going on with everyone in the apartment...eventually we see him hiding in the closet because he heard his parents fighting. The sister hugs him and all that stuff. The movie comes to the most important parts when it gets back to the point where the wife kills her husband. We soon see Aubrey yelling about how she wants to know why Kayako killed her sister. She soon sees what looks like her sister going up the stairs and she foolishly follows her to the room where Kayakos husband found out about her love for the professor in the first Grudge. It re enacts the death of Kayako as the husbands spirit does the same thing to Aubrey literally as he did to Kayako and ultimately Aubrey is killed by the mad spirit of the husband of Kayako.
At this point we see okay Aubreys dead now! We go back to the apartment complex and the soon find the son of the family wandering around looking for his mom and dad. He finds his dad's dead body to his horror. He runs to the bathroom looking for his sister and finds her dead because she was drowned. Then he sees his mothers dead spirit as she also has been murdered probably by Kayako...why you say since they hadn't ever gone into the house..well that will be explained shortly. The boy runs into the hall to find that hooded figure lying in the hall. He runs up to the figure and it turns out that the figure is a woman. She says she needs his help. Then Kayako kills the woman. The woman in the hoodie was actually the woman who was still alive after her two friends were taken by Kayakos spirit. She fled to America thinking she could get away from Kayako. Ultimately this meant that Kayako followed her and thus was free to roam in America also. Kayako kills everyone in the apartment complex in one way or another. The son is grabbed by Kayako and she even snatches the kid...in other words he's dead! In the end we see everyone died and also that now Kayako can go and kill as she pleases! The only character sort of alive was Karen and Aubreys mother but she was on her deathbed as it was and she probably died shortly after that.
I'm sorry for the aggressive nature at the beginning of the review it wasn't towards or against anyone just defending the position. HAHA! I love you all! So the Grudge 2 has a dark ending...Kayako lives to kill whoever she pleases and there's no one who can stop her. Simple! HAHA! Well I loved this movie and it was awesome!

i really liked the first "Grudge" & thinks its very underrated.
But this one didnt appeal 2 me much.
i saw it anyway & was bored out of my mind.
one of last year's most mediocre movies.
Acting was ok; Amber Tamblyn did well w/ what little she had 2 work w/.
my fav. part was Sarah Michelle Gellar's collective 5 mins. of screentime.
Though only 5 mins., best part of the movie & Gellar was spot on.
But yea, overall, a very weak movie.
