I've been getting into Godsmack's work lately and I like them a lot. I have their latest album IV and it's amazing, not one bad song on it and it's so tight and well-rounded. Speak is easily my favorite song off of it, but other great songs on it are Shine Down, Bleeding Me, Hollow, Temptation, Mama, The Enemy and No Rest For The Wicked. Other Godsmack songs I like I have on Napster:

Keep Away
I Fucking Hate You
Whatever
Voodoo
Sick Of Life
Bad Religion
Time Bomb
Get Up, Get Out
Bad Magick
Greed
Straight Out Of Line
Re-Align
Serenity

Anyone else here listen to Godsmack?

"I Fucking Hate You" is a quality song. :D

Not mad keen on them myself but they're allright I guess. I'm more into black metal and industrial.

I just know a few songs of them, but I think they're very good. 'I stand alone' is my favourite at the moment..

Any more Godsmack fans on here? I'm really loving this band, they have tons of great songs, I'm actually listening to Voodoo as I type this, great song, so moody.

Brock Manson

You forgot "I Stand Alone" too.

DOJ

I Stand Alone is alright, it's growing on me but it's not really a favorite of mine.

Godsmack should be on the Saw III soundtrack, Speak would be so perfect for S3, that song actually reminds me of Saw every time I hear it for some reason.

Yay for industrial. :) Anyway, I like Godsmack. I'm not a hardcore fan, but I still think they're good. Sully Erna's voice is great. I have a few favorite songs from them:

+ Keep Away
+ Moon Baby
+ Speak
+ Serenity
+ Greed
+ Voodoo
+ I Stand Alone
Yeah, I forget the rest, somehow.

I like Sully's voice a lot too, very powerful (and is it just me or does he sound exactly like Metallica's James Hetfield a lot of the time?).

My three favorites would be Speak, Keep Away and Bad Magick, all badass songs that I love listening to over and over.

Er..sorry to bump this up, but I'd just like to say that the name makes me think of a cereal.
"Oh, I'm just going down the the kitchen to get some Godsmax."

But anyways, I'll try some of those songs listed, and see how they sound.

I also recently got their debut album and have listened to most of it, it's awesome, Keep Away is easily my favorite on it but I also like Voodoo, Time Bomb, Bad Religion and Get Up, Get Out.

Anybody going to see Godsmack later this year? Tickets are already on sale and I'll be seeing them at their Las Vegas gig. More information at http://www.godsmack.com/tour/tour.asp

I'd like to, but the closest show to me is in Wisconsin, and I don't drive, so it'd be hard to get out there...especially since it's right after school starts.

I'd really like to see them, though... I missed them when they came here a few years ago (I believe they were touring with Metallica?).

Yeah. They opened for Metallica in 2004.

DOJ

Just my damned luck, earlier we were ordering tickets online to see Godsmack at the Hard Rock here in Las Vegas on September 24th and people under 21 aren't allowed in - even if they're with someone who is 21 or older (and your's truly is under 21 until June 2008). I'm so upset right now that I won't get to see one of my favorite bands  But there's always next time and hopefully the next time they're here in Vegas it'll be at an all ages place.

gt3stuntman
09-12-2006, 07:28 PM
Me and co0kie got to meet them and see them play on September 4th! It was AWESOME!

That sucks about your situation though, Disciple. Not sure why it's only 21 and over.

DOJ
09-13-2006, 01:02 AM
I just hope whoever did go to see them enjoyed the show. I still have hope they'll drop by here in Vegas next year and hopefully at an all ages place. I don't understand either why you can't go if you're under 21 even if you're with somebody who is 21.

That is cool to hear you met them though G3 and Co0kie, Sully Erna seems like a very nice guy from interview footage I've seen. And I am the only one who sees a resemblance between Sully and Leigh Whannell? I mean Sully looks kind of like Leigh but with tattoos and facial hair.

The only reason that I can think of for the age 21 thing is if the place has a bar, but just because you're going to the concert doesn't mean you'll be drinking.

I saw Mudvayne at this place that had a bar (The Earthlink in Atlanta), but that was just an 18 and over thing. So I don't know. That's just damn weird.

I do hope that they come to an all age place near you though. That's really shitty for you to miss out for such a silly reason.

And yeah, he was a very cool dude. Really short though. Hahaha.

DOJ
09-14-2006, 01:18 AM
That's another reason why the age restriction is stupid, even if the place has a bar that doesn't mean you're going to drink alcohol there, but I'm guessing that's likely the reason. It's still stupid and unfair though.

I've heard about Sully being short too, he's said to be somewhere between 5'4" to 5'6", he certainly looks to be around there. I saw Godsmack performing Shine Down in Conan O'Brien the other night and after they finished Conan went up to them and Sully looked like a kid standing next to Conan.

Here's a cool interview Sully gave earlier this year promoting IV and he even speaks a bit about his upcoming book which sounds interesting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjsYeX2yzJA

gt3stuntman
09-14-2006, 09:01 AM
Yeah, that's probably a good guesstimate of his height. Have a picture here (http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a103/thestuntmanII/Gawey%20Harrison%20Days/3_IMG_3311.jpg) of us with the band and some other random people. I'm on the far right and about 5'10", so maybe that gives you an idea just how short he is. Hehehe.

That interview was pretty cool. I might just have to check out that book whenever it comes out.

DOJ
09-14-2006, 04:35 PM
You look like you have a good four or five inches on Sully at least.

That picture is really cool, all of the band members seem very fan-friendly and they seem to treat their fans with equal kindness.

gt3stuntman
09-14-2006, 04:42 PM
Yeah, they were all cool guys.

I was half-expecting they'd be the opposite (like most celebrities), but I was proven wrong.

DOJ
09-14-2006, 04:44 PM
YouTube has a whole lot of cool Godsmack videos and live performances and some more Sully interviews. One of the clips I found on there has Sully talking about the song Hollow (one of my favorites from IV).

gt3stuntman
09-14-2006, 04:46 PM
Yeah, that's one of my most favorites from IV as well.

Was kinda saddened that they didn't play it when I saw 'em.

There was a healthy helping of other songs from IV though.

DOJ
09-14-2006, 04:48 PM
I've heard that songs they've played from IV during their live shows have been Speak, The Enemy, Livin In Sin and Shine Down, which are good choices. IV has so many great songs on it and has so much replayability for me, I'm still not bored of cranking Speak just about everyday.

gt3stuntman
09-14-2006, 04:54 PM
Yeah, those were the ones they played.

I don't get tired of the album either. It's had many spins from me recently. Hehehe.

Currently I own the self-titled debut (the explicit version of course), The Other Side EP and IV (with the Target exclusive bonus track I Thought) and will eventually get Awake and Faceless. I can't wait until they release a live album which has to be next for them, with four studio albums and one EP surely a live album is next.

My list of favorite Godsmack songs (in no order except for the first three):

Speak
Keep Away (regular version)
Bad Magick
Voodoo
Re-Align (regular version)
Serenity
Shine Down
Time Bomb
Bleeding Me
Hollow
I Fucking Hate You
Straight Out Of Line
Running Blind
Sick Of Life
Immune
I Stand Alone
The Enemy
Temptation
No Rest For The Wicked
Awake
Get Up, Get Out
Bad Religion

So many great songs to choose from. Godsmack sure is a tight band, no real bad songs. I also enjoyed the acoustic versions of Keep Away and Re-Align a lot.

I don't have a list myself (and am too lazy to make one) but that one's pretty close to what mine would be.

Oh, and they do have a live DVD. It's called Changes.

I listened to both Awake and Faceless the other night, good albums, as are Godsmack's other works, I don't think any of their songs are bad and all of their albums on solid as a whole. My favorite album is IV but the others are terrific too.

Ya Godsmack is soo awesome,

I've got all the albums, including the other side, that's pretty good too.
I've got the Changes DVD too, but the best thing I have of theirs is the T-Shirt I just happen to be wearing that I got when I saw them! wo0t!

I hope they come here to Las Vegas again soon and this time at a place where there aren't age restrictions. I've seen live clips of them on YouTube and they kick ass live, and all of their albums are terrific.

I love Godsmack, they put on such a good show!
Sully and Shannon come out on two rotating drum sets and omg it just blows your mind, its so intense.
I had crappy seats, which obviously sucked... but I got money saved up for when they come back, I want to have sweat flipped onto me from being soooo close

You would never think that you'd have to look down to someone you normally look up to.

I may go finally see Godsmack live on August 3rd when they play at the Palms here in Las Vegas. Fortunately where they're playing won't be age-restricted, so there's a good chance I'll be able to go see them. I can't wait

I'm not sure where I'd rank it at this point, but it's definitely one of their best works and if you're a fan, you won't be disappointed in the slightest.
